CORRECTION: AICN's 8000th Story!!! Official Plot for PLANET OF THE APES Revealed!!!

Hey folks, Harry here. Ahhhhh, here we have one of the key problems with the internet. The ability for anyone to copy and past without crediting where they copy and pasted from. Sir Shreck emailed the original story, without any word that it came from somewhere else. But before I posted the original story, I checked Coming Attractions, Chud, Filmforce, Dark Horizons and Cinescape to see if it had appeared there. Which it hadn't. BUT it turns out it did come from www.timburtoncollective.com and originally translated by this fella below, NewJorg... The story has been corrected and correctly credited. The best thing about this is discovering a Tim Burton site that I wasn't familiar with.... It is quite nice!

Hey Harry-

Maybe this isn't entirely your mistake, but the Planet of the Apes Synopsis was originally posted on The Tim Burton Collective (www.timburtoncollective.com), after THEIR Belgian spy, Gerald Haegeman, had found this neat little thing at the Belgian/Flemish Fox site... and I'm the guy who translated it all into English, i.e. I wrote the text you posted on your site, word for word.

I've no clue who "Sir Schreck" is, but I think it'd be fair to credit the right people and link to The Tim Burton Collective on that story.

Thanks,

NewJorg

Hey folks, Harry here.... 8000 stories.... MAAAAAN.... That's alot. I guess for the 8000th one, it had better be pretty cool, so I guess this is... 20th Century Fox's Belgium department went and dropped the ball on the plotline to Tim Burton's PLANET OF THE APES. It was in Flemish, but lucky for us, our spies know spies that know Flemish! Otherwise, you would really be up a creek paddle-less... Well, here's to the next 8000 stories! Here ya go....

Harry, didn't see this on your site. It's pretty cool I guess, but I would have rather had them follow the original film's storyline, rather than the original novel's. I like the idea that there's a big twist in the end though, although it can't be the Statue of Liberty because it was confirmed the story doesn't take place on Earth.

The following can be considered an "official" plot summary of POTA. It comes directly from 20th Century Fox...though in a roundabout way. It was posted on their Fox Belgium site in Flemish. Fortunately, I know someone who speaks Flemish...so here's a translation

The year: 2029. The place: distant space. The situation: On board the space station OBERON interstellar exploration-missions are assigned to chimpanzees that have been trained by human astronauts.

After receiving an alien signal from outer space, the chimp PERICLES is sent out in a high-tech exploration-vessel. As he's heading towards the destination, suddenly he loses all contact to the space station and disappears from its radars.
