STAR TREK X -- those pointy eared monsters are back!

Hey folks, Harry here with a look at STAR TREK X. Now, many of you know how I feel about Rick Berman... I feel he has formularized STAR TREK to a point of utter boredom. Relying on the same staff, the same writers and the same ideas to beat a favorite thing of mine to death. However, with John Logan on the script there is hope. The next step would be to attach a NON-TREK director, who is among the best directors for the type of story that Logan has written. I love how Berman throws out something like... "THE ROMULANS" and expects a Pavlovian slobber to begin... That would come with "THE GORN" hehehehe... Now when he says there will be Romulans... and then says there will be a doozy of a villain... that can mean that the Romulans are not the villains, and in fact must help the Federation in the destruction of 'the doozy'. Well... let's hope 'the doozy' isn't just a cheap gimmick, but something surrounded by a great script and the budget to make it a reality. However, what we all really want to see is Wesley Crusher and Data in MATRIX-style combat. Ummm, yeah...

11.30.00 Dispatch: Romulans in Next Film, Berman Says Rick Berman told a local news station last night that the Romulans — a Federation nemesis not yet featured prominently in a Star Trek movie — will play a major role in the tenth film of the series. He also promised a "doozy" of a villain, and disclosed that the as-yet-untitled "Star Trek: X" will not hit theaters until sometime in 2002.

Executive Producer Berman, in an interview by UPN News 13 in Los Angeles, was being pressed to reveal what "surprises" can be expected in the next film. "I can tell you nothing about the surprises. I can tell you — I wasn't planning to do this, but I will — that we will be meeting the Romulans in this movie," he said, adding with a grin, "I will say no more."
