More MATRIX 2 Character News!!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Well, my source who broke the news that Niobe was the name of a major new character in the upcoming MATRIX sequels was proven right last week when everyone finally picked up on it as Jada Pinkett Smith entered negotiations to play the role. She's almost locked in now, and casting has begun on several other major roles. We've got some hints here as to what to expect from the new films.

[WARRIOR] Late 20s to early 30s. Strong, silent type with a spiritual aura similar to that of a Native American. Could be any ethnicity...

Interesting. I remember hearing a similar rumor about EPISODE II, but Lucasfilm quickly denied it. This time, this is the actual breakdown being used to find the actor. I know someone who read for the role, and it's a fair sized one, a major new supporting part. I hope they find someone electric for it. Charisma is a big part of what made the first MATRIX work, and there's so many new characters coming in that the Wachowskis have their work cut out for them.

[EAST INDIAN FAMILY] Middle aged man, his wife, and a 7 - 10 year old daughter. Daughter does not have to be an actress.

No idea if they're major supporting players or not. I like the fact that THE MATRIX isn't an all-white SF world, as so often can be the case.

[THANATOS] Male, 30s. Second in command, he is a handsome but imposing man, inspiring fear in those around him by his mere presence. He is a brilliant military strategist but harbors a dark secret.

Here's the biggest scoop since Niobe, character wise. "Harbors a dark secret"?! Coooool. Can't wait to see who they get for this.

[STUNT MAN & DOUBLE] For Hugo Weaving. Please submit actors and stuntmen (6’2")

Guess that settles the whole "is-he-or-isn't-he?" question about Hugo Weaving's involvement in the film. Our favorite creepy ass Agent is back. Whoo-hoo!!

As always, I want to thank bossh0g for tossing the info my way. We'll have more for you as the films continue to come together. Until then...

"Moriarty" out.
