SILVER SURFER rumor

Hey folks, Harry here. A long time source that provides small nuggets of information has just rung in with a new whisper that is actually quite... enthralling to ponder. Abe Froman is the spy, and the rumor goes like this. Avi Arad and Marvel Entertainment is apparently quite pleased with Andrew Kevin Walker's draft of SILVER SURFER, and well.... Right now they are trying to attach ANG LEE to direct. Now... I just LOVE that idea. Ang Lee, while not the immediate obvious choice... well, the lost introspective nature of the character... the brooding loneliness... the soul that the Silver Surfer just bled on every Kirby page through every Stan Lee bubble of Dialogue and thought balloon.... well... You'll need a director that can push an actor to nail that sort of low key emotionally charged work out... To me, the Silver Surfer always had a strange Cassavetes/Seymour Cassel feel to him... Now don't get me wrong... he's also supposed to be in an eye candy exciting action sort of film as well... But from what we hear in CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.... Ang can do that work in his sleep. Ang Lee is not necessarily the immediate thought when thinking THE SILVER SURFER... but he is a fantastic filmmaker of extraordinary talent... I am quite excited at this proposition. I hope Avi and Marvel get their man.
