And then there is this tidbit about the stuntwork, and the inevitable problem of giving hundreds of people swords with which to hack at one another with. THough it sounds as if no serious limbs have been hacked off yet.

Hey Harry,

Long time listener, first time caller -

My parents own a video shop here in New Zealand and when I was in there the other day to get some free rentals off them when a crew dude from LORD OF THE RINGS walked in.

He has currently completed helping with all the stuntwork for the first two movies, apparently he's some sort of PA guy, complete with walkie talkie. He said he's not looking forward to helping with the stuntwork for the third movie as it has the same amount as the first two combined!

He also told us that he's a little frustrated at dealing with hundreds of extras at once - he was explaining how all the extras are under STRICT orders to do nothing with their swords but raise them in the air and yell. He said that despite this seemingly simple directive that was issued to them repeatedly, two extras managed to hit/stab two other extras enough that they required some medical attention (nothing too serious), he was laughing at the end of telling us this. But the good news is, yes there are action scenes with hundreds of extras fighting and it apparently all looks pretty damned cool.

Thanks for all your work, your site keeps my passion for movies running hot, oh and before I forget - the cartoon of you doing MI:2 is friggin hilarious!

Just call me Frank Bannister
