New “Justice League” episodes don’t begin airing on the Cartoon Network for another week, but the godless Canadians have already seen 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 and 4.8!
“Grendel” FAQs It Up:
What's it called?
The Clash
What's it about?
Captain Marvel and Superman have differing opinions on Luthor’s bid for redemption.
Who’s responsible?
J.M. DeMatteis and Dwayne McDuffie
Captain Marvel?
Yes, the World’s Mightiest Mortal makes his first appearance in JLU, voiced by Jerry O’Connell (Sliders and *sigh* Kangaroo Jack). It’s much in the vein of Giffen and DeMatteis’s run on the Justice League back in the day.
So, Captain Marvel has joined the Justice League?
Well…for most of the episode anyway plus he gets to call the League on their behaviour.
Anything on Cadmus?
Professor Hamilton and Amanda Waller both put in small appearances. Next week’s “Question Authority” should be chock full of Cadmus goodies.
Is Luthor really reformed?
It really is hard to say. There’s no overt supervillainy but he’s keeping questionable company.
What's good?
”We like him. He’s…sunny”, “I thought I was the boy scout”, “Holy Moley”, “You’re not heroes anymore” The sheer devastation wrought during the big fight. Marvel’s inherent goodness. Elongated Man and Metamorpho vs. The Parasite.
What's not good?
Finally hearing the magic word “Shazam” doesn’t have the same impact as hearing John say the Lantern Oath in season one. Elongated Man has more lines then Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Flash and Green Lantern put together. Superman seems driven by uncharacteristic emotions beyond the point of reason.
